Girl`s House

At the Girls’ house we encounter, see and hear person as they are. Our purpose is that everyone that comes to the House would find a activity that suits them. We think that every person grows as a person in relation to other people, as a member of a community, and you are an important part of it.  Together, we build community where it is good for everyone to be themselves. You can find more information about us and our services below. Our house is located in Kuopio, at Kuninkaankatu 26.

Values

The most important thing for us is that everyone gets seen and heard. You are an important part of the entirety and you are valuable just the way you are. We are individuals and equally important. Together, we create a space where everyone has the opportunity to participate.

We understand that a person’s life and growth are influenced by many different factors, such as gender, culture, social class, age and sexual diversity. Gender-sensitive work is way of mentality and attitude, where gender roles, norms, attitudes and stereotypes affect on individual and sociaty are seen.

Cultural sensitivity, on the other hand, means the sensitivity to consider the special features of different cultures. We understand that culture is much more than ethnicity.

Promotion of sexual health

We provide sexual health promotion work in its many different forms. You can read more about sexual counseling and guidance, sexual violence work, sexual education, and our work with immigrants below at Girls’ House
