Support for people with a criminal background

Tukikeskus Mahku supports people with a criminal background and their loved ones. We support people in difficult life situations. We offer both individual guidance and group activities. Our individual work includes personal meetings and communication. In group activities, it is possible to share experiences among peers. We are located in Kuopio at Puijonkatu 45.

Tukikeskus Mahku was founded in 2009. Our activities are financed by the Social and Health Organizations Assistance Center STEA.

Values

Our service is voluntary. We respect the individuality and uniqueness of each participant. We meet our customers valuing their own vision and experience in life, and strive to create a confidential and safe space for constructive and solution-oriented interaction and activity. We encourage our customers to find their own resources and strengths, and offer opportunities to experience inclusion and community.

We work closely with the Criminal Sanctions Agency, which offers the opportunity to support individuals during probation and after release. We are part of Kuopio Setlementti Puijola, whose values ​​you can read below.

We also support loved ones of people with a criminal background. We give them information that makes it easier to survive in everyday life. Our services include personal conversations, advice and guidance, and staying alongside.

Neuropsychiatric coaching

Neuropsychiatric coaching aims to strengthen the smoothness of everyday life in situations where neuropsychiatric symptoms cause harm to the ability to function. Neuropsychiatric symptoms can include, for example, ADHD symptoms, such as restlessness, impulsivity, attention and comprehension difficulties.

Group activity

We implement group activities 2 times a week. With the help of group activities, we offer versatile activities that support a person’s comprehensive well-being through exercise, nature, culture and face-to-face conversation. Group activities promote community and inclusion, and offer the opportunity to try different activities that support everyday life. Our activities are free of charge for participants and drug-free.
